IN-BANK EXHAUST
Another Yamaha first. We reversed the conventional four stroke configuration, allowing space for the exhaust to exit between the V-block downward, for a more compact design.

LONG TUBE INTAKE TRACKS are precision tuned to maximize air velocity for added low-end and midrange torque.

INSIDE-TRACK FUEL INJECTION positions individual fuel injectors on the inward side of each intake track, saving space and keeping electrical wiring away from the cowling latches.

THE 24-VALVE DOUBLE OVERHEAD CAM uses 4 valves per cylinder for maximum power, fuel efficiency and reliability.

VARIABLE CAM-SHAFT TIMING
This system advances and retards the angle of the intake camshaft to increase valve lift, duration, and overlap in the low- and mid-rpm ranges. This gives the engine substantially greater torque between 2000 - 3500 rpm to plane large offshore boats with authority.

RAM CHARGED MANIFOLD FUEL INJECTION is another Yamaha exclusive. Each cylinder is fed by its own individual intake track, consisting of a tuned-length passage, a compact throttle valve and a fuel injector. Pulsating pressure "rams" the air/fuel mixture into each cylinder, significantly increasing power and fuel efficiency.

SPECIALLY-DESIGNED LARGE MUFFLER WORKS in concert with the Variable Camshaft Timing to dramatically increase low and mid-range torque, and it's water-encased to help dampen sound and to keep this vital area of the engine cool.

SIX INDIVIDUAL COMPACT ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTORS deliver the exct amount of fuel needed for optimum performance and economy.

SINGLE, ELECTRONICALLY-CONTROLLED THROTTLE VALVE to ensure the precise amount of air necessary for optimum power and fuel economy.
